First of all, I want to acknowledge your courage in considering this journey of healing. Trauma can leave deep imprints, but it’s important to know that healing is entirely possible, and it begins with creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and in control.
In trauma therapy, everything we do is about empowering you. My role is to guide and support you, but you set the pace, and your voice and choices lead the way. The process is built around three main stages, but it’s never rigid, we’ll move through them in a way that works for you.
In this first stage, the focus is on helping you feel grounded and secure. We’ll work together to create a sense of safety, both within the therapy space and in your day to day life. I will teach you tools to manage overwhelming emotions, navigate triggers, and regain a sense of control over your mind and body. You might find practices like breathing, mindfulness, and other body based exercises helpful here. The goal is to make sure you have a stable foundation to build on as we move forward.
When you’re ready, we’ll begin to gently explore the impact of the trauma you’ve experienced. This can, but not always, include revisiting and processing memories in a way that feels manageable. I’ll be here to guide you every step of the way, offering body based techniques, creative approaches like art, journalling or whatever feels most natural to you. This part of the process isn’t about reliving the pain but about making sense of it, grieving any losses, and beginning to release the hold it has on you.
In the final stage, we’ll focus on rebuilding and rediscovering. This is about helping you reconnect with yourself, your relationships, and your community. Together, we’ll work on strengthening your sense of self and exploring the goals and dreams that may have felt out of reach before. This is the phase where you begin to reclaim your life, integrating your experiences in a way that allows you to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and resilience.
Throughout the process, we will honour the unique ways that trauma has shaped your journey.
Women often carry not only the weight of personal trauma but also societal pressures and expectations, and we’ll explore how these intersect for you. My aim is to support you in not just healing but thriving, helping you tap into your inner strength and build a life that feels meaningful.
